The Built to Last Project

Help us make a change that lasts. Your donation helps us to not only renovate and provide safe housing for the whole ST Colony, but also to upskill and train the village people to do the work. This provides them with vital skills that can transform their job opportunities.

THE IMMEDIATE IMPACT

Weatherproof Roofs

Replacing dangerous, leaking concrete structures with new, slanted white corrugated roofs to withstand the elements.

Airflow and Cooling

Installing high-wall air-flow vents and applying heat-reflective white paint to protect vulnerable people from extreme heat.

Safety and Security

Fitting new screens on windows and vents, alongside secure new doors, ensuring families sleep safely and in good health.

More than just construction

We believe poverty can be ended through human action. That is why the Built to Last project is about much more than bricks and mortar—it is about building human capacity.

Through this initiative, we are training the people of the ST Colony to complete these renovations themselves.

  • A Growing Workforce: We have already trained a dedicated team of 15 local people, and this team will continue to develop.

  • Fair Labour: Every worker is trained and paid a fair wage for their labour.

  • Breaking the Cycle: We are fostering valuable new skills for a group of people who previously had very limited job opportunities—often restricted to working as garbage collectors, rat catchers, or fishermen.

When you donate to this project, you are not just putting a roof over a family's head. You are putting tools into their hands, empowering a community with the dignity of meaningful work.
